LCCN has brought on some new, familiar faces to help us better deliver disaster-ready connectivity to St. John. We’re excited to announce the addition of Dave Digiacome, Meaghan Enright, Celia Kalousek, Jeff Quinlan, and Ian Samuel to our board of trustees. Each of these individuals are established leaders with the background, knowledge and connections to provide us with the vision, leadership, and resources that we’ll need to ensure we’re on a sustainable path for the long-term. We’re very thankful to them for taking on the important work of the board.
With this new energy on the board, founding members Matt, Morgan, and Rob are now able to focus solely on the work that best suits their individual skill sets, addressing on-the-ground network and power-system engineering challenges. As we work to reinforce the network for this storm season, and those to come, it is critically important that we have the right people working in the right capacities. To this end, one of the very first actions of our new board was to find an individual to fill the role of Executive Director.
We’re happy to welcome Devin Murphy to St. John and LCCN as our Executive Director. Originally from New England, Devin joins the LCCN team after spending the last several years in Nashville, TN. He has experience managing small and large organizations across multiple industries including hospitality, healthcare, and disaster response. Devin’s connection to the Caribbean stems from his role as the Administrative Officer of a federal Disaster Medical Assistance Team that was deployed to Puerto Rico with the National Disaster Medical System and the US Navy as part of the response to Hurricanes Irma and Maria. It was there where he managed a mobile field hospital at the USNS Comfort which served nearly 4,000 patients in a 9-day period. We’re grateful to have such a qualified individual in this previously unfilled leadership role here at LCCN.
We are proud of what we’ve been able to do and are so thankful to the whole community of St. John for the support that has made our work possible thus far. We’re looking forward to this next chapter with great leadership and the continued support of the community, and we are as committed as ever to delivering our disaster-ready connectivity for St. John. As we head into August we are happy to be making progress and are working with laser focus on building redundancy into the network and ensuring our readiness for a rapid redeployment of the network in the event of any emergency affecting communications.
